Journalist Val Vâlcu made a comment related to the intention of the Cîţu Government to eliminate the granting of holiday vouchers, citing the lack of budget money due to the coronavirus crisis.

“The announcement made by the Government of PNL – USR PLUS – UDMR not to grant holiday vouchers in 2021 may be an expression of the general tendency manifested by the forces of the right to neglect the Romanian capital, in favor of international / foreign companies Why encourage tourism in our country, where the vast majority of entrepreneurs are Romanians, let people go to Turkey, Greece or Bulgaria … A trend that manifested itself in the pandemic, when, towards the end of last year , the hypermarkets remained open, instead the markets were watched.

You can understand your thinking, there is no money in the budget, that’s all. But this propaganda mechanism that tries to anathema to the budget people who ‘took advantage’, ‘drank’, who received these vouchers does not score anything: The holidays were not exclusively intended for public employees, but private companies also had the opportunity to reward your employees with such vouchers. 25% of the vacation vouchers awarded last year were given to private sector employees. It depended on the strategy of each company, on the way in which it understood to motivate its employees and, of course, on whether it had the funds available for this program ”, emphasizes Val Vâlcu.

Vâlcu: The money was used to capitalize companies in the country

“On the other hand, this was a way of supporting the HORECA industry in Romania. Since they cannot be awarded state aid, the vacation vouchers that people use in hotels and pensions in Romania were a way of supporting this sector. Two objectives were achieved: employees were encouraged and motivated, including from the private sector, because no one prevented private companies from providing these benefits, and the HORECA sector in Romania was supported, and the money was used to capitalize companies in the country.

It is a propaganda campaign that tries to discredit the holiday vouchers that – and this has been argued by both economists and not just politicians or their beneficiaries – have been an investment in the HORECA sector and, on the other hand, a way of motivating the employees of the State or of the private sector ”, indicated Val Vâlcu.
