New symptoms of Covid-19. Expert: Discovery Suggests Many People Will Not Get Tested Because Their Symptoms Don’t Match Those Already Known

Experts are talking about new symptoms related to Covid-19.

Chills, loss of appetite, headache or muscle aches are additional new symptoms that have been linked to Covid-19, according to a preliminary study prepared by Imperial College London and released on Wednesday.

This research, which involved more than a million people in England and has not yet been reviewed by independent experts, is based on saliva tests and questionnaires collected between June 2020 and January 2021.

These additional symptoms are in addition to those already known, such as loss of sense of taste and smell, fever and persistent cough. In the study, experts found that the more symptoms participants had, the more likely they were to test positive for coronavirus.

However, about 60% of those infected did not show any symptoms in the week before the test. The experts also found that the manifestations of Covid-19 vary according to the age of the affected person. In this sense, chills with virus cases were identified in patients of all ages, headaches that occurred in children between 5 and 17 years old and loss of appetite in 18 year olds.

Research has found that muscle pain has been detected in people ages 18 to 54, while the likelihood of developing fever, persistent cough, and loss of appetite among infected people ages 5 to 17 was reduced compared to adult patients.

“These new findings suggest that many people who have Covid-19 will not be tested and therefore will not be isolated because their symptoms do not match those included in health guidelines to help identify infected people,” he said.
