Until Monday, January 4, in Romanian territory, they were confirmed 643,559 cases of people infected by the new coronavirus (COVID – 19).

577,198 patients were declared cured.

After the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, there were 3,130 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19), these being cases that have not previously had a positive test.

Distinguished from newly confirmed cases, upon retesting of already positive patients, 290 people were positively reconfirmed.

Between 03.01.2021 (10:00) – 04.01.2021 (10:00) were reported 78 deaths (46 men and 32 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Gorj, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți , Prahova, Sibiu, Teleorman, Timiș, Vâlcea and Bucharest.

Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age category 30 to 39 years, 2 deaths in the age category 40 to 49 years, 3 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 13 deaths in the age category age 60 to 69 years, 30 deaths in the age category 70 to 79 years and 29 deaths in the category over 80 years.

75 of the deaths registered are of some patients who presented comorbidities, for 1 deceased patient no comorbidities were registered and for 2 deceased patients, no comorbidities have been reported so far.

In health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 9,148. Of these, 1,100 are hospitalized in ATI.

How many tests have been performed in the last 24 hours

To date, at the national level, 4,837,361 tests were processed. Of these, 9,550 were carried out in the last 24 hours, 6,320 according to case definition and medical protocol and 3,230 upon request.

Likewise, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 138 tests processed before the last 24 hours and transmitted until January 4 of this year have been reported.

On the territory of Romania, 30,529 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated at homeand 8,957 people are in institutional isolation. As well, 43,389 people are quarantined at home, again in institutionalized quarantine there are 63 people.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on January 3, 4,339 penalties for minor offenses, amounting to 842,392 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, it was prepared, on Sunday, a criminal case for frustrating the fight against the disease, deed provided for and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the public that the Ministry of the Interior has put into operation, as of 04/07/2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where infractions to sanitary protection regulations can be notified.

The calls are answered by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

The situation of Romanian citizens in other states

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, it was confirmed that 7,063 Romanian citizens were infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,939 in Italy, 1,290 in Spain, 173 in the United Kingdom, 125 in France, 3,085 in Germany, 93 in Greece, 49 in Denmark, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 7 in Sweden, 131 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 11 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 2 in Bulgaria, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates, 12 in Moldova, 3 in Montenegro and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Republic of the Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal, Egypt, Pakistan and the Russian Federation. Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus infection, 798 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg, one in Tunisia and one in Argentine.

Only Bucharest, Ilfov and Timiș remained in the “red zone”. More and more counties turn green

As of January 3, only Bucharest, Ilfov and Timiș are still in the red zone of the pandemic, with more than 3 cases of infection per 1,000 inhabitants. In contrast, the number of counties moving into the green zone is increasing, with less than 1.5 cases per 1,000 residents.

Only Bucharest, with an incidence of 3.41 (decreasing from 3.47 the day before) and the counties of Ilfov (incidence 4.28, increasing compared to 4.24) and Timiș (incidence 3.04, compared to 3 , 08) is still on January 3 in the red zone of the Romanian pandemic.

Currently, 16 counties are in the yellow zone, with more than 1.5 cases of Covid-19 infection per 1,000 inhabitants.

The highest incidences in this category are registered in Cluj (2.95), Constanța (2.73), Brașov (2.48) and Brăila (2.17), the rest have an infection rate below 2.

In contrast, 23 municipalities are now in the green zone, with an incidence of less than 1.5 infections per thousand inhabitants. The lowest rates are found in Harghita (0.4), Gorj (0.56), Vrancea (0.58), Olt (0.68) and Covasna (0.82) counties.
