1,194 new cases of coronavirus, but only 4,438 tests were carried out. Large number of patients in ATI

The Strategic Communication Group announced 1,194 new cases of coronavirus infection on Saturday, after processing 4,438 tests. There are also 78 new deaths. The number of patients in serious condition, in ATI, is 1,117.

To date, on January 2, in Romania, 637,395 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed.

571,333 patients were declared cured.

Following nationwide testing, compared to the last report, 1,194 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were recorded, cases that had not previously had a positive test.

Aside from newly confirmed cases, after retesting patients who were already positive, 122 people were positively reconfirmed.

To date, 15,919 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 01.01.2021 (10:00) – 02.01.2021 (10:00) 78 deaths were reported (48 men and 30 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Bacau, Bistrița- Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Hunedoara, Iași, Maramureș, Sibiu, Timiș, Vaslui and Bucharest.

Of these, 7 deaths were recorded in the age category 50 to 59 years, 18 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 30 deaths in the age category 70 to 79 years, and 23 deaths in the age category of more than 80 years.

76 of the registered deaths are of some patients who presented comorbidities, and for 2 deceased patients so far no comorbidities have been reported.

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 8,723. Of these, 1,117 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 4,817,844 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 4,438 were performed in the last 24 hours, 3,681 based on case definition and medical protocol and 757 on request.

In Romania, 31,355 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home and 8,858 people are in institutional isolation. In addition, 46,736 people are quarantined at home, and there are 59 people in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 1,748 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on January 1, 2021, 2,795 penalties for minor infractions, amounting to 684,251 lei.

Likewise, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday 3 criminal proceedings were raised to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.
