One in four Romanians was tested in the last 24 hours, confirmed with coronavirus. More than 1,100 patients are in serious condition

Another 3,938 new cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in the last 24 hours in Romania, after performing 15,953 tests.

To date, on January 1, in Romania, 636,201 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been confirmed. 566,365 patients were declared cured.

To date, 15,841 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

In the last 24 hours, 74 deaths have been reported (48 men and 26 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Buzău, Călărași, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Galați, Goromițaj, Ialomițaj , Iași, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Vâlcea, Vaslui, Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age category 30 to 39 years, 4 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 25 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 25 deaths in the age category age 70 to 79 years and 19 deaths in the category of over 80 years.

68 of the deaths registered are of some patients who presented comorbidities, for 2 deceased patients no comorbidities were registered and for 4 deceased patients, no comorbidities have been reported to date.

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 8,734. Of these, 1,111 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 4,813,406 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 15,953 were carried out in the last 24 hours, 10,272 according to the case definition and medical protocol and 5,681 upon request.
