On Sunday, Romania, along with the other states of the European Union, took a big step towards ending the pandemic and returning to a normal life.
The first 960 people were vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech serum after the European Commission sent the first doses of vaccine to each Member State. 10,000, in the case of Romania.
Another 140,000 doses were due to enter the country this morning, but delivery will be delayed due to logistical problems.
The first information on Sunday said that on Monday morning these doses of the anti-Covid vaccine should arrive in Romania by plane. But later, the authorities gave other details. This delivery will be delayed until Tuesday, authorities say.
It is not a problem that only affects Romania. This delay occurred in 8 European states.
According to the latest data, another section of the Covid vaccine should arrive in Romania: on Tuesday in Bucharest, Cluj and Timișoara, and on December 30 in Brașov, Constanța, Craiova and Iași.
The immunization campaign against Sars-CoV-2 began on Sunday. The first person to be vaccinated in Romania was a nurse from the “Matei Balş” Institute of Infectious Diseases in the capital. The 26-year-old woman was part of the team that cared for the first patient diagnosed with Sars-CoV-2 in Romania, in February.
A total of 600 doses arrived at the “Matei Balș” Institute and 140 people have already been immunized: doctors and nurses.
In less than half an hour, the vaccination campaign began at the Víctor Babeș Hospital in the Capital, another health unit involved from the beginning in the fight against Covid-19.
In fact, the serum reached eight other cities, including Timisoara, Iasi, Cluj, Craiova, Constanta, and Baia Mare.
