The new strain of coronavirus detected in the United Kingdom was identified for the first time in Germany, in a woman who arrived by plane from London, German health authorities announced on Thursday, December 24, says Le Figaro, according to Mediafax.
“This is the first known case in Germany,” the Baden-Württemberg regional health ministry said in a statement.

The infected person flew from London, from Heathrow Airport, to Frankfurt on December 20 to visit relatives. When she got off the plane, a test was done, and the result was positive, being forced to go into quarantine.

Germany has extended the suspension of flights from the United Kingdom and South Africa until January 6, after the appearance of a new strain of coronavirus considered by the British authorities as more contagious.
