Trucks loaded with the first doses of Pfizer’s Covid vaccine, bound for European Union countries, left the factory in Belgium on Wednesday, and are heading to all 27 European Union countries.
Starting on December 27, the 27 countries of the European Union will begin vaccination, after the European Medicines Regulatory Agency gave the green light for the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech serum, this Monday.
The first doses left loaded in three refrigerated trucks, escorted by two patrols each. Pfizer did not disclose the original destination of these trucks.
The European Union has started speeding up procedures to approve Pfizer serum after the United States and the United Kingdom have already started their own vaccination campaigns in early and mid-December. Switzerland is the latest European country to start a vaccination campaign against the coronavirus.
The European Union will also make the decision to approve the second vaccine, the one produced by the American company Moderna. The decision would be made on January 6.
When will the anti-Covid vaccine arrive in Romania and how will the vaccination campaign be carried out?
The first 10,000 doses will arrive in Romania on December 26 and the vaccination campaign will begin immediately. In the first instance, medical personnel will be vaccinated, and next year people from risk groups will be vaccinated, and then the general population. The vaccination will be voluntary and free.
The national steering committee of the COVID vaccination campaign announced on Wednesday what the registration procedure is for those who want to get vaccinated. Vaccination will be scheduled, for more efficient monitoring of the process and patients.
Vaccination will be scheduled, according to the Steering Committee, to guarantee an organized flow of beneficiaries and better post-vaccination follow-up. This will also minimize the risk of missing vaccine doses.

The vaccination itself will be carried out in the vaccination centers established by order of the Ministry of Health, at the proposal of the public health directorates.
The vaccine will be administered by medical personnel, with a valid free practice certificate, issued by the College of Physicians and / or medical personnel holding a valid certificate issued by the Order of General Nurses, Midwives and Nurses of Romania (OAMGMAMR).
Each vaccination center will have a coordinating doctor and will be organized according to the unidirectional circuit (unidirectional flow, without intersection). All vaccination centers (fixed or mobile) will be attended by medical teams made up of a doctor and auxiliary medical personnel.
