At the beginning of the consultations, the president congratulated them on the formation of a coalition and the “speed” with which Parliament was created.
“Congratulations on the formalization of the coalition, congratulations on the speed with which you managed to push forward the steps in Parliament, I recognize that this is the first time that I see a Parliament formed and with the elected leadership in a day and a little,” he said Klaus Iohannis to the coalition leaders. .
The parliamentary parties were invited to a new round of consultations at the Cotroceni Palace. The PSD should have been the first party to argue with Klaus Iohannis, but the Social Democrats rejected the invitation.
The three political parties that will form the majority, PNL-USR PLUS and UDMR participate together in the consultations. At the end of the talks, President Klaus Iohannis is expected to announce the name of the designated prime minister.
PSD President Marcel Ciolacu said on Tuesday, ahead of consultations called by President Klaus Iohannis, that the Social Democratic Party will not participate in the Cotroceni talks.
“PSD will not participate in the cheap circus led by President Iohannis. I made the decision that PSD will not appear today for consultations in Cotroceni,” Ciolacu declared.
PNL, USR PLUS and UDMR, the parties that support Florin Cîțu to become the future prime minister, attended together the consultations in the Cotroceni Palace to appoint the future chief executive. The delegation includes Florin Cîțu, Ludovic Orban, Dan Barna, Dacian Cioloș and Kelemen Hunor.
According to the calendar announced by the Cotroceni Palace, after discussions with the parties that make up the coalition, the president will also dialogue with the GOLD leaders, starting at 4:30 p.m. and with the leaders of the national minorities, starting at 17:30.
After the consultations, the president will announce the name of the designated prime minister.
Coalition leaders want the ministers of the new cabinet to be heard on Wednesday and the investiture vote to take place on Thursday, December 24.
