The new MPs began to take office on Saturday. Until the oath is taken, they have several formalities to go through. A room was specially arranged where one by one the newly elected would present their documents to assume the mandate. In addition to the proof of the election, the future deputies had to complete a declaration that they did not collaborate with the Securitate, they brought CV, but also declarations of assets and interests. Elected officials also received a tablet so they can participate in meetings online during this pandemic period.

Daniel Florea, the former mayor of Sector 5, elected by PSD, returns to Parliament after 4 years. He appeared with his children.

– With what thoughts? journalists asked him.

– With the idea of capitalizing on all my experience in administration and especially in the legal field. During the period in which I was mayor they used me, I am convinced that the experience of mayor will be of great use to me in parliamentary activity, confessed the former mayor.

– Why did you come with the children?

-They came, they really wanted to come with me, they saw that I have some emotions in the morning and they insisted that they come with me, explained the elected deputy of the PSD.

What Grațiela Gavrilescu says about the political trajectory

Grațiela Gavrilescu, former Minister of the Environment of PSD governments, won a mandate as a deputy in PSD Prahova lists, after being in ALDE for years, together with Călin Popescu Tăriceanu.

– With the idea that we still need a parliament that is with the Romanians to legislate for them, for those who elected us, regardless of political color, Grațiela Gavrilescu answers the question “With what thoughts”?

In his case, the journalists had another curiosity:

– Will you support a bill in Parliament that prohibits the political career?

– In Parliament, as everywhere, in local elected officials, I think that depending on the backbone of each one and the respective political moments, you have to think about the political trajectory, because if you left a party in which you were elected, I left not because of my mistake, but because of the mistake of those who at that time did not think that it could harm Romania, replied Grațiela Gavrilescu.

The current Labor Minister, Violeta Alexandru, also won a seat in Parliament, from the PNL.

“First of all, with the determination to get the job done, with the workforce that I want to continue investing in to better represent those who voted for us with confidence, I can honestly tell you that it feels different, one is being appointed to a position and one is having votes behind you, the feeling I have is that these people when they went to the polls said I trust this man so I’m going to keep up the good work, there are things that I want to correct after the PSD ”, promised Violeta Alexandru.

With mask, without mask

Former K1 combatant Daniel Ghiţă also took office, who ran on PSD lists for the Chamber of Deputies. And it seems that in the meantime, his party colleague, Professor Alexandru Rafila, managed to convince him of the benefits of the mask. Ghita had distinguished herself by posts on Facebook promoting conspiracy theories about the COVID pandemic and campaigning against wearing a mask, which she considered a “muzzle.” Now, however, upon taking office, he respected the obligation to wear a mask.

But not everyone followed the rule of wearing a mask. Dumitru Coarnă, president of the Police Union, elected MP of the PSD, came with a certificate stating that he is exempt from the obligation to wear a mask.

The newly elected also had a meeting for the official photos on the website of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, but also for the cards.

Parliament will meet Monday in its first joint session, according to a decree issued by President Klaus Iohannis.
