Police shot a 23-year-old man in the leg after a traffic chase in Prahova County. The driver refused to stop at the signals of the agents.
It is the second such incident, after the police shot another man a few days ago. Several crews then followed a driver into traffic, from Iași County to Botoșani, and tried to stop him. He wanted to crash into the police teams, who fired at the car after several warning shots. The driver died and an investigation was opened in this case.
In the situation that happened in Prahova, the police had to execute vertical shots after the young man threatened one of the officers with a sharp object, according to the County Police Inspectorate.
IPJ Prahova reported that on Friday evening, around 11:30 pm, a police team from Vălenii de Munte was notified that a driver traveling in the direction of Ploieşti to Vălenii de Munte was driving, possibly under the influence of alcohol, driving him which is a danger to road traffic.
“Since at the exit of the city of Vălenii de Munte, the driver of the car did not stop at the signal of the traffic policeman, the car was chased both by him and by another police team on duty. The same source indicates that together with colleagues from the other police squad, 4 of the 5 men initially disembarked from the pursued car were immobilized, and the driver of the car is currently being searched in the area.
An ambulance also came to the scene and provided medical attention to the man, who was taken to hospital.
In this case, an investigation was also opened and the public prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Vălenii de Munte Court was also informed.
