Former Minister Vlad Voiculescu is seen as a happier option than the current Health Chief Nelu Tataru, even within the PSD. Alexandru Rafila, the PSD-nominated prime minister to President Klaus Iohannis, believes Vlad Voiculescu can handle the current crisis, but wants to see him able to build health.

Following negotiations for the formation of the coalition government, the Ministry of Health returns to USRPLUS, and the most likely name to fill this position is Vlad Voiculescu, former Minister of Health in the Cioloș government.

Asked, on Friday night, on Digi24, which minister Vlad Voiculescu or Nelu Tătaru would see better for the crisis we are going through, Professor Alexandru Rafila replied: “Certainly Mr. Vlad Voiculescu will not be another minister. weaker than Mr. Nelu Tataru ”. When asked for more details, Alexandru Rafila explained: “Vlad Voiculescu knows the health system, although he is not a doctor. Now, what I expect from him and, well, we all hope for him, is that he shows that he has a vocation for construction in the health system (…) I hope that Mr. Voiculescu to find in doctors, including teachers, not opponents, but partners “, said Alexandru Rafila, recalling that in the previous period Vlad Voiculescu did not have a very good relationship with the environment of the medical university that he had called” UMF-Istán “.

Rafila: Tataru, extremely limited knowledge of the functioning of the health system

“The first thing a new minister must do is get to know the health system; unfortunately, Sir. Tataru had extremely limited knowledge of how the health system works. -, and the reform of the health system should not be a reform that reflects some wishes or impulses, but should really lead to a revitalization of this sector that, unfortunately, continues to place us in the last places in Europe not only in terms of in terms of financing, but also in terms of many demographic and health indicators ”, commented Alexandru Rafila.

The representative of Romania to the WHO, Alexandru Rafila, saw possible, in the electoral campaign, a few days before the parliamentary elections of December 6, a collaboration of the PSD with USRPLUS after a year.

The vaccination campaign should not be a medal around a political party.

On the other hand, when asked if the vaccination campaign could change once the government changes, Alexandru Rafila said that in principle, “the horses do not change during the race”, but the vaccination strategy can be improved. Furthermore, Professor Rafila appeals: the vaccination campaign should not be assumed politically.

“The restart of economic and social life in Romania depends on the success of this campaign (…), but I would like to make a small comment: the fact that we all try to support this campaign, should not be a medal around a party political or even a government. It is important to get rid of these assumptions, if you will, of successes, when we talk about such an important public health issue. We all want the success of this vaccination campaign, we all support and it must be a success of Romania, should not be politicized. If the mistake of politicizing this campaign is made, as was done during 2020 with many things that were politicized, although it should not have been, then we will have a credibility problem, on the one hand, and there are risks about it. the success of the campaign, ”said Alexandru Rafila.
