The largest local drug manufacturer, Cluj Therapy, will begin production of favipiravir, an antiviral drug used to treat mild and mild symptoms of COVID. Production would begin in April 2021.

The announcement was made by the company’s CEO, Dragos Damian. Production will be carried out in collaboration with another local pharmaceutical company, says Ziarul Financiar.

“It all depends on what happens if the vaccination is started, which we hope will be effective. Then the demand will drop, but now it is a huge demand, the million doses that will be delivered from January have already been requested by ten hospitals ”. he explained, according to the cited source.

FluGuard (favipiravir) is a prescription drug produced by Sun Pharma, a group that includes local manufacturer Terapia.

At the same time, in January 2021 one million doses of FluGuard will arrive in Romania, a capacity that will then enter the country every month.
The local manufacturer will bring to the country in January an amount of 10,000 tablets of Ivermectin (Ivermectol), an antiparasitic drug with results in the prevention and treatment of COVID infection, also used in the United States.
