Prosecutors investigating irregularities around illegal building permits, issued by the Urban Planning Department of the Capital City Council, showed how the “octopus” worked. The houses built in Bucureștii Noi and Chitila are the target.

Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Court of First Instance affirm that housing blocks were built without authorization, and the reception was made by stealing false documents from the file, and in their place other false ones were placed.

The Prosecutor’s Office announced that a criminal investigation has been initiated for 8 people, accused of committing various crimes of falsification, favoring the author and execution without authorization of construction or demolition or non-compliance with its provisions, according to a press release, cited by Mediafax.

Prosecutors allege, in the indictment, that three real beneficiaries of four buildings, collective housing located in a protected area on Străbună, Șaradei, Episcop Vulcan streets in Sector 1, carried out works without being based on a building permit or with breach of it.

“With regard to the buildings located on Străbună and Episcop Vulcan streets, two defendants determined that the members of the reception commission composed of representatives of the Bucharest City Council, the State Building Inspectorate and specialists unrealistically certified with reason from the reception report that the works were executed in accordance with the construction license, although the works were not finished and were executed in violation of its provisions, ”he writes in the Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the indictment, in order to evade criminal responsibility, two defendants allegedly determined other persons to steal the existing authorization documents from the Bucharest City Council and replace the respective documents with falsified documents.

“An accused, executive director of the Department of Urbanism – Bucharest City Council presented as a result of the requests made by the judicial bodies and the Local Police – Control Department falsified documents replaced in the authorization files,” the prosecutors add in the ordinance.

In this case, the amount of 775,000 lei was registered so that the eight defendants could be investigated under judicial control.
