Donald Trump claims not to be involved in investigations into Hunter Biden, son of US president-elect

US President Donald Trump said Thursday afternoon that he was not involved in any way in the investigation of Hunter Biden, the son of President-elect Joseph Biden, according to Mediafax.

“I am not involved in the possible indictment against Hunter Biden or the Biden family. It is just other fake news. In fact, I am very sad to witness something like this,” Donald Trump said on Twitter.

According to sources cited by Reuters, Donald Trump would like the Justice Department to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hunter Biden’s case. Jeffrey Rosen, appointed by Donald Trump as acting attorney general after William Barr’s resignation, declined on Wednesday to say whether or not to appoint a special counsel.

The appointment of a special counsel would make it difficult for the future Attorney General of the United States, who will be appointed by the Joe Biden Administration, to cancel the investigation.

Hunter Biden announced last week that his fiscal activities are under investigation, a situation that raises new questions about the financial issues exposed during the election campaign.

Hunter Biden has been frequently criticized by President Donald Trump and his allies, who have accused him of taking advantage of his political connections. Donald Trump and his supporters have reported, without evidence, alleged acts of corruption associated with Hunter Biden’s activities in Ukraine while his father, Joseph Biden, was vice president of the United States.

The federal investigation into Hunter Biden’s activities is being coordinated by the Delaware State Attorney’s Office. According to The Wall Street Journal, there is another investigation initiated by prosecutors in Manhattan (New York). None of the investigations involved President-elect Joseph Biden in any way, the cited sources said.
