On Wednesday, December 16, President Klaus Iohannis signed the convocation decree of the Romanian Parliament, which was elected on December 6, 2020.

The new Parliament was convened on December 21, 2020, at 12:00, in the Palace of the Cortes.

Klaus Iohannis announced on Monday the creation of the new Parliament

President Klaus Iohannis announced on Monday that the new Parliament will be constituted on December 21. The President stated that the conditions for the appointment of a candidate to form the new Government have not yet been met and that further consultations will be held.

The first round of consultations resulted in an exchange of views between representatives of the parliamentary political parties and the president, Iohannis said.

But I can say that the conditions for appointing a candidate to form a new government are not yet met today. I even got a few proposals today, but I think at least one more round of consultation is needed until everything is done.Iohannis said.

Since the Central Electoral Office communicated the final results of the parliamentary elections, Iohannis said that the conditions for the convening of the new Parliament are met.

„VI would like to inform you that I intend to convene the new Parliament before 21 December. The new Parliament will be formed next Monday”, Concluded Iohannis.
