AUR co-chair George Simion responded to questions from journalists on Monday about the political consultations in Cotroceni, reciting verses by Octavian Goga.
Simion was, on Monday, at the Cotroceni Palace, together with his party colleagues Claudiu Târziu, Ringo Dămureanu, Dan Tanasă and Diana Șoșoacă, to discuss the formation of a parliamentary majority and, implicitly, the support of a new government.
At the end of this meeting, journalists asked George Simion how the discussion went.
JournalistTell us how the consultations between you and President Klaus Iohannis were carried out, and what is the proposal with which you came to the Cotroceni Palace.
George Simion: “How can I tell you. I think Octavio Goga described it best in a poem: Just for a moment the couch supported them / With cold and mute pride, the sovereign sits / Soon he understood, Neagoe, the poor / Who lost his reign, the nation, Basarab. The GOLD proposal for the prime minister’s proposal, seeing that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place parties did not come with convincing names, we decided to propose to the country a prime minister’s name, Mr. Călin Georgescu.“
Furthermore, the co-president of AUR wanted to emphasize that he participates in these consultations ”.by institutional condescension ”.
“We participated in these consultations out of institutional condescension. Mr. Iohannis responded to us. He told us that he did not intend to form a parliamentary majority. We knew that. We, AUR, nowhere, neither the so-called left, nor the so-called right We at AUR seem to have confused many accounts and I want to tell you that we are happy about that. “ he said.
