William Barr, the attorney general of the United States, a position equivalent to that of justice minister, has resigned, President Donald Trump announced Monday.

Tensions rose between the two after William Barr said there was no evidence that the November 3 presidential election had been rigged, a thesis backed by the incumbent president, who was defeated by Democrat Joe Biden.

Donald Trump had even mentioned the possibility of firing William Barr, prompting him to hide from him that a tax fraud investigation had been opened on behalf of Hunter Biden, the son of his electoral competitor.
