USR PLUS leaders Dan Barna and Dacian Cioloș stated immediately after the Cotroceni consultations with President Klaus Iohannis that they want a stable and balanced majority. Barna also said that USR-PLUS presented several solutions to make this coalition balanced and stable.
“Dacian Cioloș will be prime minister in case PNL opts for the presidency of the House, what is at stake is very clear, after we manage to find a balanced solution, the opportunity for Romania will be real. The president expressed that he wants that the PNL, USR-PLUS and UDMR coalition is carried out. We are ready to find this solution and we have full confidence that we will reach a solution “, Barna also stated.
PLUS leader Dacian Cioloş claims there are names ready for both the prime minister and the Chamber of Deputies or the Senate, but wants the Alliance to be balanced and strong enough to implement reforms over the next four years.
“USR-PLUS wants a center-right coalition to govern for a period of 4 years. That is why we insist on starting discussions on the government program, but also on coalition building,” said leader PLUS.
Ciolos stated that USR PLUS does not want any formula that PSD is involved in in any way.
We do not want any formula in which the PSD is involved formally, openly or under the table, neither the Government nor the Parliament. That is why we went and we are open to discussions, without red lines, but with a balanced solution We want a construction based on trust, that is why we said that we have an option for both the Prime Minister and the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate has a important role in the state hierarchy, but most of them are built and deconstructed in the Chamber of Deputies. “We have started with the premise that together we will find the wisdom to complete these negotiations, which must also include the government program,” said Ciolos.
