Gigi Becali has been waging a war of attrition with representatives of CSA Steaua for six years, following the famous lawsuit involving the Steaua brand. The target of the attacks by the FCSB financier was Florin Talpan, the lawyer who fought in court. There were several situations in which Becali publicly offended the “military” officer, who did not hesitate to sue the landowner.
The defamation lawsuit started in 2016, in the Bucharest Court. Initially, Talpan requested the amount of 1 million euros, money that represents moral damage. The court of first instance won the case, only that an essential aspect referred to the fact that the financier of FCSB had to pay him the amount of 3,000 euros, not 1 million. Talpan appealed, the Bucharest Court of Appeal was reached and the magistrates decided that Becali should pay 30,000 euros.
The war, of attrition, continued in the Superior Court of Cassation and Justice (HCCJ). Here it was decided that the Court of Appeal would retry this case. The second decision of this court was again in favor of Talpan, who should receive 5,000 euros. But, most likely, because he has this right, Becali will be able to tell his lawyers to challenge the decision in Superior Court. The last unfavorable decision was made in September and the motivation appeared this month.
“I don’t know who Talpan is. What do I have to do?” Becali said upon learning that Florin Talpan had sued him.
