A fight between illegal immigrants ended in bloodshed in a commune near Arad. There the bodies of two Afghans were found in a field and a third migrant was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The police are looking for the criminals and say that a conflict most likely broke out between those who wanted to cross the border illegally to get to Hungary and their guides.
The bodies of the two Afghan citizens were found in a field near Shagu, 20 km from Arad. A third Afghan in his 20s asked the ambulance for help because he had been seriously injured in the same fight.
Simina Roz, Arad County Hospital spokesperson: “A man of Afghan origin with multiple stab wounds underwent emergency surgery and is now consciously cooperating in stable condition.”
Investigators have opened an investigation into REM and are looking for the assailants. So far, their data shows that there was a misunderstanding in the group of illegal Afghan immigrants that led to the assault.
Ramona Lungu, spokesperson for the Arad Prosecutor’s Office: “A criminal case has been opened against the crime of attempted murder and aggravated homicide. The perpetrators must be heard. It was a fight between two groups of migrants of Afghan citizenship.”
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 1,200 illegal immigrants have been caught at the Hungarian border, in Arad county alone. Most of the time they are found hidden in trucks loaded with textiles or appliances.
In the past month alone, their number has been double that of the same period last year, border guards say.
