In Romania, the number of tests is small and this generates discontent among specialists. Emilian Popovici, vice president of the Romanian Epidemiology Society, spoke on this topic. The doctor believes that the problem is related to a lack of personnel, not a lack of equipment.
“We, at the country level, only had a real decrease, at the end of the state of emergency. Later we had plateaus with ups and downs that were more or less accentuated according to the measurements that were taken and the way in which it was observed. The more you try, the more numbers you get closer to the real situation.
The closer you get to the numbers, the more accurately you can measure your measurements. Otherwise, you can get drunk with cold water and act like the situation is less serious and you have no way of getting results. Efforts are being made to increase testing capacity and progress is being made, but having equipment is not enough, human resources are also needed and not everything can be done overnight ”, said Emilian Popovici on B1 TV.
“Where measurements were taken and observed, results were obtained”
The specialist considers that the measures imposed during the coronavirus pandemic are not taken seriously, and the effect is related to the number of cases of contagion, which does not decrease.
“It’s about seriousness, in the sense that we have to go through that stage of pretending we do. This cannot lead to results, so both parties must be corrected. There are a series of leaks that must be overcome, because multiplied at the national level they give a result that we do not want. Where measures have been taken and observed, results have been obtained and figures are positive, they have been corrected. If the measures exist only on paper and declaratively, they will surely not be successful, ”Popovici also affirmed.
