The president of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, told AGERPRES on Friday that there should be no speculation about the resignation of the executive president of the Union, Porcsalmi Balint, since it is an agreement between the two, in the context in which he has other projects and commitments.
“He retires after the government was formed (Porcsalmi Balint – n red). That was his decision, not today, not yesterday. In fact, when I invited him to join the team, in 2017, earlier in the year, then he said that he was coming, but for two years, that later he had other projects. And, at my request, there was one more year left and a little more. Porcsalmi Balint announced this Friday that he will resign from the mandate of executive president of the UDMR, after completing the negotiations for the formation of the new Government.
“We are after two difficult years and four successful elections for the UDMR. I thank my colleagues and our volunteers with whom we fight together. In 2017 I was elected executive president of the UDMR for two years, and after the European elections, I continued my mandate. At the request of the President of the Union, I decided that, after the 2020 parliamentary elections, I would put an end to this activity, “wrote Porcsalmi Balint on Facebook.
