Florin Cîțu’s cabinet is taking shape. At the party headquarters, the leaders of PNL and USR-Plus put on paper the portfolios that they will negotiate on Saturday, face to face.
After having the entire government, it is difficult for liberals to give up certain areas, and the leaders now demand that they remain in office. USR-Plus also establishes specially desired ministries.
Since resigning as head of government, Ludovic Orban has spent his days in his office at party headquarters. You must divide the portfolios to thank the coalition partners, but also your fellow party members. In fact, many leaders who lost the elections have arrived at the party headquarters these days and want to make sure that they will receive positions at least in the second echelon or will receive the leadership of some monetary agencies.
Intense negotiations took place at the NLP headquarters. Downstairs, Alina Gorghiu was appointed to share the duties in parliament, and in Ludovic Orban’s office, several acting ministers, including Prime Minister-designate Florin Cîțu, rose in turn.
Development Minister Ion Ştefan, named Grindă, spent a lot of time at the party headquarters. Most likely, he will not keep his position in the future legislature. Because it administers funds for mayors, the ministry is also coveted by MPs Robert Sighiartău, Raluca Turcan and Florin Roman. USR would like to name Ionuţ Mosteanu here.
The Interior Minister, Marcel Vela, also engaged in talks with Ludovic Orban. The party could replace him with MP Laurențiu Leoreanu or Rareș Bogdan. However, interns are also on the USR short list, which would send here Dragoş Tudorache, an MEP close to Dacian Cioloș.
If he does not hold a post in the Ministry of the Interior, Dragoş Tudorache could replace Cătălin Predoiu in the Ministry of Justice. On behalf of USR, MP Stelian Ion is also in discussions about this portfolio.
And for the Ministry of Finance it is fierce competition. The post is released with the departure of Florin Cîțu, but the Liberals want to keep it. That is if the USR-PLUS fails to impose on its people.
Dan Barna, President of USR: “There must be a balance regarding the importance and the capacity to generate reforms, and this will come after the discussions on the government program.”
Ludovic Orban, president of the PNL: “It is possible that the new parliament will convene on the 21st and that the parliamentary procedures for the new parliament to take office.”
The leaders of PNL, USR PLUS and UDMR meet on Saturday morning in a protocol village in the Capital. It is the first round of these negotiations for the formation of the government and on Monday the political parties are expected to consult with the head of state.
