Daniel Gheorghe Rusu is the president of AUR Alba and was mayor of the Spring commune from 2004 to 2020. He lost the last local elections after a competition with the NLP candidate, Iulia Stănilă, who became mayor.
Rusu also lost the parliamentary elections at the commune level, but as a result of the score obtained at the county level, he has a chance of reaching Parliament. In spring, the PNL “beat” GOLD in parliament, with a difference of more than 200 votes. AUR has in Alba, in the Chamber of Deputies, a score of 12.29%, respectively 12,952 votes. In the Senate, the party has 13,357 votes and a percentage of 12.6%. Following the local elections, several members and leaders of AUR Alba announced their resignation from the party as a result of the “dictatorial” leadership style manifested by Daniel Rusu.

Daniel Rusu became mayor in 2004 on the lists of the Humanist Party, which later became a Conservative. In 2006 he joined the Democratic Party, which later became the PDL. In 2008 he won the mayoralty as a member of the PDL, but in 2012 he joined the PNL and ran again as a representative of the USL. He did not resist long in the NLP, because in 2016 he ran for the ALDE. In October 2018, he clearly positioned himself in favor of the referendum for the family and publicly announced that he would begin the works for the introduction of drinking water in the commune with the village that will have the greatest presence in the referendum.
After this time, he came into conflict with the county party leadership and “stayed” with George Simion. Being the president of the branch, he positioned himself first in the Chamber of Deputies. In the Senate, 1st place is occupied by Anca Topîrcean, from Sebeş, wife of the former AUR candidate for mayor of this municipality. While he was mayor, Rusu was distinguished by aggressive and vulgar language with his counter-candidates. Also, through all the parties he went through, he ended up in conflict with county leaders.
After the motion and the fall of the Government, Dăncilă harshly criticized the ALDE leadership. “The crisis of the government and the stubbornness of some colleagues from ALDE, block the Spring City Hall and bring the local community to the brink of collapse! In 2016, he made “the whores” the leaders of the Alba Provincial Council: “I heard that politics is a whore but I never thought that so many whores are lining up. After being stuck with a terribly small budget, which can’t even cover employee and teacher salaries for an entire year, it seems like the same County Council that allocated tens of billions to a city just to support volleyball there, he put his shoulder next to SC DPL SA… not to pay in full even the snow removal contract signed this year ”.
