Journalist Pataki Tamás from Magyar Nemzet (Hungarian Nation) wrote an original editorial on Thursday. Under the title “Je suis român”, he accused the political correctness around the racism scandal created by the Romanian referee Sebastian Colțescu, in the Paris Saint Germain – Istanbul Bașakșehir match.
“Black. In Romanian, that means black. Neither more nor less. When Sebastian Colțescu said that word, he did not think that his career would end,” the Hungarian journalist writes.
He also said that the gesture of the Romanian referee gave Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan the opportunity to speak of “footballers who take to the field like crying, sensitive girls crying out for justice.”
Pataki Tamás points out that Sebastian Colțescu did not categorize the Istanbul Bașakșehir team assistant coach differently, but only designated him as “the black one”.
He draws a parallel and says that if black in “Black Lives Matter” is okay, then “black” in Romanian can be used without problem.
The Hungarian journalist concludes: “So today ‘je suis’ is Romanian. Because we will all be Romanians if we let the thought and racism police rebel ”.
Romanian referee Sebastian Colţescu is accused of racism, after, at the start of the PSG – Istanbul Başakşehir match in the Champions League, he asked center Ovidiu Hațegan to give a yellow card for protests to Pierre Webo, indicating the former Cameroonian forward with the words “black”.
