Eugen Tomac resigned from the presidency of the Popular Movement Party, following the result of the parliamentary elections.

The PMP failed to obtain the minimum score of 5 percent to enter Parliament, so Eugen Tomac announced that he assumes the result and leaves the party leadership.

“I had a long meeting this morning with my colleagues from PMP. As I am aware that we all wanted more, we were all expecting a much better result, I decided to inform my colleagues that I assume this result that we dislike. In politics, you have to look life in the eye exactly as it is and accept it. Therefore, because I assume the result, I resigned as president of the PMP.

It is a matter that must be done, because the PMP is a party that has done nothing wrong in parliamentary activity, a living party, with a respite that President Traian Băsescu gave us, with combatants. I stay with the PMP, but as a man who launched this campaign, I consider it absolutely fair and correct to make this gesture, ”said Eugen Tomac.
