After the parliamentary elections on Sunday, December 6, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) managed to obtain 14.46% of the votes in Botosani and ranked third after PSD and PNL. In fact, at Botosani, the difference between NLP and AUR was only 5 percent. The astonishing success of a party that few knew before the parliamentary elections was due, in Botoşani, to a young woman only 19 years old. Ariadna Cârligeanu is a law student at the “Nicolae Titulescu” University in Bucharest and was secretary until after the GOLD Youth General elections at the national level, being involved for almost a year in all the actions of the party. At the top, one day after the elections, Ariadna Cârligeanu, Botosani’s “golden machine”, decided to resign from the party.
From unionist and nationalist actions to GOLD
Ariadna Cârligeanu studied, in Botoşani, at the “Nicolae Iorga” Pedagogical Higher School. In fact, during her high school years, the young woman began to flirt with the trade union movements organized through the platform Action 2012. Bessarabia and North Bukovina, in short, the restoration of Greater Romania. “I was 14 years old when, more jokingly, more seriously, I established my dream: that in a few years I would form an organization that would fight for the Romanians of Bessarabia and North Bucovina. It was a goal that seemed crazy all this time even to my idealist. At the age of 16 I signed up as a volunteer in Acción 2012 because I felt from the first moment that my place was there ”, Ariadna Cârligeanu confesses on her personal Facebook page.
Since then, the young woman has participated in numerous union and patriotic actions throughout the country. In addition, it was a constant voice of the anti-system and of those who in one way or another frustrated union actions. For almost a year, the young woman joined AUR, confessing that she was attracted to the fact that many of the people with whom she used to participate in union actions attended this party. “AUR did not appear out of nowhere. AUR is a party made up of people who have been involved in society for years, people with whom I have been active for the last 3 years, and over time they have become my second family. This project for me means the opportunity for every Romanian to contribute to building a future for the generations to come after us. After decades, the time has come to do justice to Romania, and our entry into the Romanian Parliament is a first step towards achieve this goal, ”says the young woman for Adevărul.
In addition, he believes he has learned a lot from George Simion, the leader of the party with whom he proudly poses. “What I learned from George during all this time is that no matter how crazy the goal you have chosen seems, you fight to the end and one day the impossible becomes possible,” adds Ariadna Cârligeanu. In fact, the evolution of the young woman within this party, almost unknown to many Romanians, until the parliamentary elections, was sudden, managing to become secretary general within the DORADA Youth.
“Accept that they made you children”
The young woman coordinated the actions of AUR in Botoşani and achieved an incredible score for a party that did not reach the electoral threshold in local elections. Botoşăneanca confesses that it was based on the notoriety it has among young people, high school or university students, and that in fact they were the GOLD engine in this area. “Who is behind George Simion?” They are children. Accept that they made you some children “, he also affirms on social networks. In addition, it transmits the following message “After so many falls, revenge followed.”
Surprise resignation
Paradoxically and totally unexpected, after the success, Ariadna Cârligeanu announced that she will resign from GOLD and politics only one day after the elections. He confesses that he wants to continue dealing with civic and union actions, but without being part of the GOLD. “I know it seems too soon, but it is time to retire from GOLD and it is time for a new generation to take over Action 2012. I am retiring from politics to dedicate my time and energy to the civic life of Romanians in Bessarabia, from the north of Bucovina, for unity, for the ideal of Greater Romania, ”Ariadna Cârligeanu said, also on social media.
The young woman explained to “Adevărul” that she gave up the GOLD to take over the 2012 Action. “We also need someone to focus on the issue of Romanians in Bessarabia, in northern Bukovina, as well as in other historical regions of this country. I made the decision to act in 2012 because I believe that this is where I need him most in this moment. The 2012 action was founded and led by George Simion for 7 years, and the issue of union will now come, through AUR, to the Romanian Parliament. In addition to a unionist political movement, we also need a unionist civic movement of base ”, added the young woman.
It is the first resignation announced by the AUR leadership after Sunday’s parliamentary elections.
