The incident, which will probably mark the end of the international career of Romanian referees Sebastian Colţescu and Ovidiu Haţegan, took place during the PSG – Istanbul Basaksehir match, in the sixth stage of the Champions League groups.

The match between the French champion and the Turkish champion was refereed by Ovidiu Haţegan.

In the 18th minute, Istanbul of Istanbul received a red card for a wrong kick. This is Pierre Webo, a former Cameroonian international.

At that time, the substitute referee, Sebastian Colţescu, had a racist dialogue with center-back Haţegan.

More precisely, Colţescu used the expression “That black man!”, When he referred to the person to whom Haţegan had to give a red card, that is to say Pierre Webo.

The dialogue was heard by the players on the field, but also by those on the bench. Everyone surrounded the Romanian referees, accusing them of racism.

The most vehement was the player Demba Ba who faced Colţescu.

Demba Ba repeated countless times “Why do you say black?” – “Why did you say black?”

In protest, the players of the two teams left the field.

Demba Ba then continued the dialogue with Sebastián Colţescu, whom he accused of politely addressing the white players, with the nickname “these” or “players”, while he, a colored player, would have called him “black”.

The scandal has spread all over the world, with publications from all over the planet learning about the work of the Romanian referees.

The match was suspended, the Turks refused to enter the field.
