Young men with secondary education. This is the profile of the voter who put the seal to the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, according to the exit poll data obtained by CURS – Avangarde in Sunday’s elections.
With almost 10% of the votes, according to the official partial results presented by BEC, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians was voted by more than 500,000 Romanians, out of a total of more than 5 million who went to the polls.
The great surprise of these results raised legitimate questions about how the party got so many votes or who voted for GOLD.
According to the data collected by CURS – Avangarde in the exit poll conducted on Election Day, the profile of GOLD voters is as follows:
- The majority of GOLD voters are male
- The majority of voters are in the 18-30 age group.
- Most voters have high school and postsecondary education
- Depending on the environment in which they live, GOLD voters are roughly evenly divided between urban and rural areas.
- Where AUR obtained the best scores: Transylvania, Moldova, Muntenia, Bucharest
According to the official partial results presented by BEC on Monday at noon, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians obtained 9.38% (532,827 votes) in the Chamber of Deputies and 9.26% (539,236 votes) in the Senate.
