The Central Electoral Office requested, in Saturday’s meeting, from the National Company Poşta Română SA more information about the vote expressed by correspondence in parliamentary elections by Romanians in the diaspora, reports Agerpres. There are problems voting by mail in parliamentary elections. Several viewers from the diaspora have told us in the last hours to the Dig24 newsroom that their envelopes did not arrive in Bucharest.

According to the BEC management, details were requested on the number of voting documents sent to voters, on calendar dates; the number of confirmations of receipt of voting documents by correspondence, on calendar dates; the number of external envelopes received by Romanian Post and the number of external envelopes delivered by Correos to the electoral offices for voting by correspondence, on calendar dates.

“Considering the provisions of art. 12 and art. 14 para. (6) of Law no. 288/2015 on voting by mail, as well as the amendment and complementation of Law no. 208/2015 on the election of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, as well as for the organization and operation of the Permanent Electoral Authority, with subsequent modifications and terminations, as well as Annex No. 7 of Government Decision No. 673/2019 on voting by mail, let us know the next: 1. the number of mailings of voting documents to voters, on calendar dates; 2. the number of confirmations of receipt of voting documents by correspondence, on calendar dates; 3. the number of external envelopes received by your institution; Four. the number of external envelopes delivered by your institution to the electoral offices for voting by correspondence, on calendar dates ”, can be found in the address sent to the Romanian National Post Company.

Several envelopes with votes from Romanian citizens of the diaspora for the parliamentary elections would not have reached the polling stations.
