CFR Cluj has already found a replacement for Dan Petrescu. Just three days after parting ways with the 52-year-old coach, the Romanian champion’s officials applauded Edward Iordănescu.
TO UPDATE: Edi Iordănescu has already appeared in the CFR Cluj dressing room and is preparing to support the first training session, writes gsp.ro. Edi Iordănescu signed until the summer of 2022 and earned 15,000 euros a month.
Even on the day of the match with ŢSKA Sofia, from the fifth stage of the Europa League groups, CFR Cluj found a coach. According to Telekom Sport, the officials of the Romanian champion have reached an agreement with Edward Iordănescu.
Thus, the 42-year-old will replace Dan Petrescu, who was dismissed earlier this week, and will return to CFR Cluj after two and a half years.
In 2018, Edward Iordănescu held out only three matches on the Transylvanian bench. They won the Romanian Super Cup against Craiova, 1-0, drew 1-1 in the first phase of League I with FC Botoşani and lost, 0-1, in the second round of the Champions League with Malmo.
In fact, the defeat against the Nordics was fatal for the coach. After the tour match with the Swedes, from the League preliminaries, Edward Iordănescu was removed from the leadership.
Two and a half years later, Edi Iordănescu is now called into the Romanian champion’s leadership group to continue Dan Petrescu’s work. After leaving CFR Cluj, Edward Iordănescu took over for Gaz Metan Mediaş on January 7, 2019, a team he parted with in the summer of this year.
