The anti-Covid vaccination campaign in Romania could end in the middle of next summer, when a percentage of 60-70% of the population should be immunized against coronavirus infection, according to the coordinator of the campaign, Dr. Valeriu Gheorghiță. He explained to Digi24 when the general population will be able to get vaccinated and under what conditions.
“When there is a single programming platform for vaccination, the mere intention of anyone to appear on that programming platform is proof that that person wants to be vaccinated.
We estimate that sometime at the end of the first quarter of next year, practically at the end of March, beginning of April, the general population will be vaccinated, the last stage of the vaccination campaign.
All these stages can overlap at a certain time, if the approved types of vaccines will ensure the need that we will have at some point in Romania, that is, if the availability of vaccines will cover all the needs we have, these stages the vaccination sessions can have place in parallel, “said Valeriu Gheorghiță, Thursday night, on Digi24.
Vaccination against covid cannot be done in family doctors’ offices
The anti-Covid vaccination campaign cannot be carried out in family doctors’ offices, because they do not have the necessary capacity.
“The effective development of the vaccination activity will be carried out at the level of the vaccination centers. We do not intend, at least for the moment, to carry out vaccination activity at the family medicine office level, because the activity we propose is tremendously intense.
We are talking about 250 people vaccinated in one day.
It is extremely complicated that at the level of a family medicine office, in addition to the usual consultations, in addition to monitoring people who have family doctors in evidence, this vaccination is carried out, which will not be a very simple process ”, he specified. George.
What does vaccination against Covid entail?
He also explained how the actual process will unfold in addition to injecting the coronavirus serum.
“It is a fairly elaborate process, in which each person must undergo an epidemiological triage, a clinical examination, insisting on identifying current or definitive contraindications for vaccination.
There must be equipment designed for the actual administration of the vaccine.
Subsequently, there is a period of post-vaccination surveillance. These things cannot be done in a family medicine practice where there is only one vaccination team, because the allotted time will be very long.
We want to ensure the vaccination of a significant number of the population in the middle of next year, to reach that percentage of 60-70% of herd immunization, in order to put an end to the vaccination activity ”, said the coordinator of the campaign immunization.
