Prime Minister Ludovic Orban categorizes as “a big lie” the statements of those who say that after the parliamentary elections will follow a harsh quarantine and affirms that Romania “cannot afford a blockade” from an economic point of view. “The Romanian economy cannot afford this blockade, we must maintain a balance. People need work, they have to be active, they have to develop their professional lives in conditions as close to normal as possible,” said the head of government on Sunday at night, on România TV, quoting News.ro.

“It’s a big lie. I had a difficult time, for 7-8-10 days, I had a worrying growth trend. Faced with this trend, we have taken restrictive measures. (…) The results of these measures are being felt. ( …) The results can be seen, the growth trend has already stopped and I can tell you that this week there is for the first time a decreasing trend in the number of infections, which is manifesting … We are doing the analysis in the day of this week compared to the equivalent day of last week, with the previous week. (…) I can tell you that already accumulated for 7 days we have a clear decreasing trend with more than 5,000 cases less than last week ” Ludovic Orban said on RTV.

The Prime Minister claims that a total lockdown means the closure of all activities except essential ones, or Romania did not take such measures even during the state of emergency, when activities such as construction could be carried out.

“The Romanian economy cannot afford such a blockade, we must maintain a balance. People need work, they have to be active, they have to develop their professional life in conditions that are as close to normal (…) From a point of view economic, Romania cannot afford a lockdown. The closure means another economic recession and would jeopardize the trend of economic growth that we have for sure, “added Orban.
