Be very careful where you leave your car! Irregularly parked vehicles can be picked up on the streets across the country beginning Saturday.
The mayor general of the Capital, Nicușor Dan, says that he is not in favor of such a radical measure, since it should take about two more years to solve the traffic problems. At least in Bucharest. Here, the decision is in the district councils.
The capital is a living testament to the idea of traffic chaos. It is full of illegally parked cars. There is no cement patch available that is not occupied. Not even where it seems, it’s like a bike path idea. And the first band became a memory in whole parts of the main arteries.
The new law, already promulgated by President Klaus Iohannis, gives free rein to the Local Police of any city to collect vehicles that are outside the marked areas.
The law says that the measure to lift the car is valid for 24 hours. Furthermore, it will not be possible to pick up cars with a driver or other passengers.
But what will happen after 24 hours? each mayor’s office will likely reach a local decision based on legal provisions.
However, to overcome these problems, parking spaces and smart traffic management solutions are needed.
Nicușor Dan, Mayor General of the capital: “It is not fair, at this time, to penalize people, except those who blatantly park in the crosswalk, at the stations. In a period of two years, when we solve the traffic problem, we can think about this type of sanctions ”.
Florin Roman, the initiator of the law: “The municipalities of the whole country can act. Here too we will have to get used to it little by little and put pressure on the local authorities to create more parking spaces.”
In the Capital, the decision corresponds to the district mayors. The mayors have already announced that they will begin to lift the vehicles.
