While the Constanza magistrates rejected the request made by the Tomis Archdiocese against the local authorities, asking that they be allowed to organize the Saint Andrew pilgrimage, His Eminence Theodosius held a service in a church in Constanza. One by one, the parishioners were removed from the police, because during the quarantine, services are organized only outside places of worship. Furthermore, dozens of people did not even wear protective masks.
Approximately 100 people attended the service at St. Catherine’s Church in Constanța. Of these, 39 were fined by the police for not wearing masks. All the parishioners were taken, one by one, from the sanctuary by the gendarmes and police, who had been informed that a religious act was taking place without observing the sanitary measures.
The reactions of the believers were not long in coming:
“Our parents are dying, our children are dying, who makes us a monument?
“God doesn’t make us sick! Leave us alone!”
“It is not normal for people to stop receiving Holy Communion.
– But it is normal to reign now in a pandemic, are you not afraid to use the same teaspoon?
– In that teaspoon is the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ that heals us from any disease and Christ has never made anyone sick and will never make anyone sick! Let it be very clear! “
“- The police force us to leave the church.
– Why, what happened?
– They say there are too many people in the church, but still people wear masks. That’s.”
A total of 39 people were fined in the church, only those who did not wear masks. The total value of the fines was 4,500 lei.
The Court of Constanta rejected the request of His Holiness Theodosius to make a pilgrimage to Saint Andrew. That did not stop the high prelate from urging people to go on pilgrimage. Furthermore, he sent a letter to the prime minister, telling him that the people had endured enough and that he would not allow the right to honor Saint Andrew to be trampled on.
On Wednesday, surrounded by dozens of people, His Holiness Theodosius did not speak to reporters. But he addressed a message to the parishioners: “Dear believers, I invite you all to the Cave of St. Andrew! Make a sheet to show that you are going to worship in the first non-handmade church. God help us all!”
But this is prohibited because the city of Constanta is under quarantine and people cannot leave the city. Furthermore, by decision of the Government, during the state of alert, in the territory of Romania, religious pilgrimages are allowed only to people who reside in the locality where the respective activity takes place. Basically, in the cave of San Andrés, on November 30, only the locals of the commune of Ion Corvin, county of Constanza, will be able to participate.
