On Wednesday, the judges of the CCR rejected, with a majority of votes, the NLP’s notification against the law that increases the Social Reference Indicator (ISR) from 500 lei to 1,200 lei, based on which social benefits are calculated. . Liberals claim that the law is unpredictable and contradictory and does not indicate the source of funding.

Changes made by Parliament increase the Social Reference Index in stages over the next three years:
- as of January 1, 2021, the SRI increases to 780 lei,
- from January 1, 2022 to 990 lei,
- from January 1, 2023 to 1200 lei
The liberals accused in the CCR notification that the Law does not indicate the source of funding. „The provisions of the Law for the modification of Law no. 76/2002 on the unemployment insurance system and the stimulation of employment does not conform to the regulations of normative technique in the sense that the regulation is unpredictable and contradictory. Article 1, paragraph 3 of the Romanian Constitution is violated in relation to the principle of legal certainty, ”according to the NLP notification.
Law amending Law No. 76/2002 on the unemployment insurance and employment stimulus system, which provides for an increase in the value of the SRI, was approved on October 13 by the Chamber of Deputies with 167 votes in favor, 91 votes against and 5 abstentions.
