A man from Sibiu, confirmed with coronavirus, who suffered a broken leg, came to UPU Sibiu for help. The orthopedic doctor on duty refused to treat the patient infected with SARS-CoV-2, although the medical unit in which he works is the Covid Hospital.

Alexandra, the wife of the man who was denied medical help for being confirmed with COVID-19, wrote on Facebook about the experience at the Sibiu Hospital, where the orthopedic doctor did not show up to treat the patient, Mediafax notes.

“I am shocked by what has happened. How can you be denied control and treatment in an emergency, because you are COVID positive ??? In the ER, in a COVID hospital!” Says the woman.

She says her husband broke his leg a week ago and there were complications on Saturday. As it was Saturday, the woman got scared, contacted another doctor by phone and, without knowing the seriousness of the situation, decided to go to UPU Sibiu, for a check-up.

“I called Salvare, they came to look for him. But when he arrives at the hospital, he finds out that the orthopedic doctor refuses to see him because he does not agree to see covid-positive patients. I requested a document in which to explain in writing the reason why a patient who comes to the emergency room, even if it is positive, does not receive attention. What do you mean? If you are positive, ready, can you die? They no longer care about you? “, the woman wonders.

She says she cannot publicly reveal the name of the doctor who denied her husband medical help, but calls him a “completely dehumanized person.”

“Gives you no shame?” Don’t you have any regrets? Like my husband, many others … Don’t you really care? I understand your fear, but when you knew you were working where you worked, what did you expect in these times of pandemic? Only healthy people with no other conditions? We were among those who protected ourselves, and look, we still take it, ”adds Alexandra.

According to Mediafax, which requested a reaction to this case, representatives of the Sibiu County Emergency Clinical Hospital said they had notified themselves, and the management of the medical unit has an ongoing investigation into this situation.

This is not a singular case in the Clinical Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Sibiu Hospital. In April, when the hospital only received COVID cases, a man accused his mother of dying in agony after enduring unimaginable pain because she had not received medical help, although she had suffered a fracture.
