All USR deputies will resign tomorrow in order not to benefit from special pensions, the information initially published by HotNews.ro about the sources, being later confirmed by Dan Barna, in a post on Facebook. According to party sources, the resignation will take effect on December 18, before the official expiration of his term. The reason: USR members fear that the old parties may leak controversial bills in the final days of the legislature.

The USR has 38 parliamentarians: 25 deputies and 13 senators.

As we announced this afternoon, tomorrow morning the deputies and senators of the USR will resign from Parliament so as not to be among those who will receive a special pension. The special pension is a challenge to the honest people of this country. Representing the popular will is an honor, not a task. A RSU bill aimed at eliminating these pensions has been on Parliament’s agenda for four years. Four years in which a majority has never been found to do so. Never. But because we promised people that we would not benefit from them, we would resign before this period ends. USR PLUS will make the elimination of special pensions an essential condition for participating in any government coalition, “wrote Dan Barna on Facebook.

USR had a project to eliminate special pensions that were not approved by parliament. The same happened with the tax proposal.

The government program presented by USR-PLUS provides for the elimination of special pensions and the calculation of all pensions according to the same system. “The equality of Romanians in relation to the pension means an equal contribution, an equal pension. Elimination of all special pensions and their recalculation, in the case of professional categories (example: military) that did not have contributions, based on an implicit contribution to the income they had from the State. If some cannot be eliminated, taxation will be applied with 90% of all special pensions above the threshold of five cumulative minimum pensions ”, is shown in the government program proposed by USR-PLUS.
