The renowned judge Dana Gîrbovan, president of the National Union of Judges of Romania, will be the future president of the Cluj Court of Appeal, starting on January 1, 2021. According to some sources cited by clujust.ro, she won the contest to the post. The results have yet to be officially announced.
The competition for the position was attended by two other great names from the Cluj magistracy, Elena Botezan, former chief prosecutor of DNA Cluj and Irinel Andrei, former vice president of the Court.
The official results will be shown on December 7. Dana Gîrbovan succeeds Judge Denisa Băldean, who served two terms, and is now in the competition for promotion in the High Court.
Dana Gîrbovan is one of the constant voices in the judiciary in support of principles such as the independence of the judiciary and the non-participation of the judiciary. The UNJR presidency was nominated in 2019 for the post of Minister of Justice, but President Iohannis rejected the appointment.
