Hundreds of medical graduates who dropped out of residency filed an online petition asking the ministry to lower the approval threshold and supplement specialty positions.
776 graduates who supported residency exemption they did not take the necessary score to be assigned to a hospital and in that context they started an online petition with the theme: “It must be a lower average.”
The one who had this initiative is a graduate who obtained a rating that was ranked first below the line.
Valentin Moţăţeanu is the one who initiated the petition. It’s the first one below the line.
Valentin Moţăţeanu would have liked to specialize as a family doctor. If the ministry does not change its admission criteria this year, it will remain out of the system for another year. Some of his colleagues will choose the path abroad.
“I got 558 points. Initially I had 561, but after the correction I lost 3 points. (…) It would be a shame to stop at 559 points. What is the difference between the one with 559 points and 558. That is, it should be a lower average because that is correct and normal. 500 is a promotion degree “, considers Valentin, a medical graduate from Craiova.
“We are going to do the residency exam again, next year. Or, who wants to leave the country and work abroad. For example, in Germany, Austria there is no residency exam. I prefer to work on my own in the country “. says, quoted by Mediafax.
Aurora Floarea graduated from Ovidius University in Constanta. He wants to be a GP, a specialty for which there are 130 vacancies.
“I passed the residency exam, I got 556 points, and without three points I couldn’t become a resident doctor. Because the pass rate was 60%, not 50%,” says Aurora.
The minimum score that medical graduates must obtain must be 60% of the maximum mark obtained. In their petition they ask to return to the 50% percentage, as it was ten years ago.
Meanwhile, 3,000 student volunteers are preparing to go to hospitals for medical help in the context of the pandemic.
“Students can participate in the process of caring for the sick. based on the volunteer recruitment process and they will be assigned and sign volunteer contracts with the Inspections for Emergency Situations in the counties where they will be assigned and will work in the health units in those counties under the coordination of a person designated by the unit of health, “says Raed Arafat.
On Monday, the rectors of the medical universities will have a discussion with the Ministry of Health, after which their position will be transmitted to them in relation to the graduates who did not reach the required minimum score.
Almost 12,000 graduates took the exam this year. There were more than 9,100 seats, of which almost 8,600 will be allocated.
