The strategy of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 will be made public next week, the document is in accordance with international recommendations, declared Valeriu Gheorghiţă, the coordinator of the vaccination campaign, on Saturday on Digi 24.

Romania is part of the European approach, in equal parts, and the distribution of the vaccine will start simultaneously for all states, Gheorghiţă specified.

Vaccination will be free and voluntary“Said the doctor. He specified that to prepare the campaign three objectives must be achieved:

  • a communication campaign
  • organize the logistics necessary for vaccination
  • preparation of the resident medical certificate in the vaccination campaign.

The strategy also defines age groups and priorities, mainly public and private health workers, caregivers in centers for the disabled, day care centers or nursing homes, followed by vulnerable groups and finally the general population.

Communication will take place through a dedicated online platform, through social media, through all available means, added Valeriu Gheorghiţă.

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that the EU could give the green light to the sale of vaccines developed by Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech in mid-December. It all depends on the results of the evaluation that the European Medicines Agency will make of the two anti-COVID vaccines.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) could authorize the launch of the Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna vaccines in the second half of December 2020, von der Leyen said.

The European Commission has so far signed five contracts to pre-order potential vaccines: with AstraZenaca, Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi-GSK, Pfizer / BioNTech and CureVac. After a memorandum of understanding concluded in August with the American company Moderna, “we are continuing the talks and we are also in talks with Novavax,” added Ursula von der Leyen.
