The Romanian authorities reported on Friday, November 20, 9,272 new cases and 160 deaths, registered in just 24 hours. There are 1,139 hospitalized patients in ATI.

Since the beginning of the pandemic until now, in Romania, 403,123 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been confirmed.

In addition, 278 676 patients were declared cured.

After the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, there were 9,272 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19), these being cases that have not previously had a positive test.

Unlike recently confirmed cases, after reassessment of already positive patients, 1,412 people were positively reconfirmed.

160 Romans died

To date, according to the report of the Strategic Communication Group, 9,756 people diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 19.11.2020 (10:00) and 20.11.2020 (10:00) it was reported 160 deaths (104 men and 56 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Arges, Bacau, Bihor, Bistrita-Nasaud, Botosani, Braila, Brasov, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Constanta, Dambovita hospitals , Dolj, Galati, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iasi, Maramures, Mehedinti, Mures, Neamt, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timis, Tulcea, Valcea, Vaslui, Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, eight deaths were recorded in the age category 40 to 49 years, 15 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 38 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 64 deaths in the age category age 70 to 79 years. years and 35 deaths in the category over 80 years.

151 of the deaths registered were of some patients who presented comorbidities, two deceased patients did not present comorbidities and so far, seven deceased patients have not reported comorbidities.

The highest infection rate

No fewer than 25 counties, including Bucharest, are in the red zone in terms of incidence of COVID-19 cases. The most intense spread of the virus continues in Sibiu County, where there is an incidence of 8.9 cases per thousand inhabitants.

Bucharest and ten other counties register values ​​of more than 5 cases per thousand inhabitants.

More than 1,100 patients in ATI

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 13,548. Of these, 1,139 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 3,844,732 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 36,453 were performed in the last 24 hours, 21,299 based on the definition of the case and medical protocol, and 15,154 upon request.

In Romanian territory, 46,568 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated in their homes and 13,628 people are in institutionalized isolation. In addition, 77,496 people are quarantined at home, and there are 17 people in institutionalized quarantine.


In the last 24 hours, 5,275 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 683 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially to inform the public.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on November 19 of this year, 7,645 misdemeanor sanctions, worth 1,155,005 lei.
Likewise, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday, 2 crimes were found to frustrate the fight against diseases, the deed provided and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

Where can we report violations of the law

As of 04.07.2020, the Ministry of the Interior put into operation a line TELVERDE (0800800165) in which violations of health protection standards can be reported.

The calls are handled by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the notified aspects.

The situation of Romanians abroad

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, it was confirmed that 6,864 Romanian citizens were infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,935 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3,018 in Germany, 167 in Great Britain, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the US, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus 93 in Greece, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates and one in Argentina,

Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of the Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal and Egypt. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of the Congo and one in Greece, they have died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed infected with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

Records of the coronavirus pandemic in Romania

The highest number of new cases was reported on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. GCS reported no fewer than 10,269 infections in 24 hours.

Most of the ATI patients were registered on November 16. 1,187 Romanians were in intensive care at the time.

The highest number of deaths was broadcast on November 11 (203).

Worldwide, more than 1.3 million people have died from the coronavirus to date.
