In counties that have seen an alarming increase in coronavirus cases and where tougher measures have been imposed, the effects are already visible, says bthe statistician Valentin Pîrvu. He gave the example of Sibiu and Sălaj, where local quarantine was imposed. On the other hand, he says, there are several counties where the situation runs the risk of becoming just as dire, but where measures are delayed. Dr. Andreea Moldovan says that social activities should be more restricted.
„meIt is serious, because we are all witnessing a marked increase in the number of cases, which means that there are more patients who need to be hospitalized, and among them, there are more patients who have moderate to severe forms than it means that the number of people who have to go to an intensive care unit is higher. All this increase in cases only burdens the health system to a limit that will soon be unbearable, “said Andreea Moldovan, medical director of the Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Brasov.
She says that measures taken so far by authorities to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV2 have not led to a decrease in the number of cases.
„I think I would have taken even more measures, because this increase in cases must be stopped. And with the measures taken in part, at night or in the food markets, I don’t think the impact will be what we all expect. I would be much more attentive to the restrictions in terms of social life, because the economy is clearly in trouble and we cannot stop it further, but the part of social activities I think should be much more controlled and restricted, because we are a very people. sociable and here we have problems, “he said.
Biostatistician Valentin Pîrvu says, on the other hand, that in counties that have taken action, the effects are already visible.
„Quarantine was imposed in Sălaj, it continued with 3 cities in quarantine and you can already see, it gave good results, they are decreasing. Sibiu has taken action and now, although not much has happened, results can be seen. Both Maramureș and Ialomița took action. Unfortunately, there are counties that have not taken action, are at high levels and are growing. I am talking about Arad, Brașov, Ilfov and even Bucharest. Bucharest continues to grow, it has more than 5 ”, he said.
„In Sibiu, it was talked about, it was at 4.4 official incidence two weeks ago, so you can realize how fast things are going. If we had to learn anything this spring, it’s that decision speed is crucial. It doesn’t necessarily matter how strict the measures are, but how quickly you take them, “said Pîrvu.
„Something has to be done urgently in Constanza, things are going very fast. In Brașov they go up and do not stop. It is not a uniform phenomenon. Across the country, if you look, growth has slowed, but it’s these counties, as Bihor and Timiș there are big cities that are on the rise and where some short-term measures must be taken, ”he added.
