After processing the data of more than three-quarters of the polling stations in the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu has 52.12 percent of the votes, according to the first official results announced by the Central Election Commission, while Igor Dodon, the current pro-Russian president, has 47.87 percent of the votes.

However, the votes in the diaspora have not yet been counted, where elections continue in some sections and where it is estimated that there will be a massive option in favor of Maia Sandu.

We remind you that in the first round of the presidential elections, the vote in the Republic of Moldova was won by Igor Dodon, but after counting the votes in the diaspora, Maia Sandu placed at the top of the ballot, with a difference of more than 3 percent of Igor Dodon.

Two polls carried out after the polls indicated, on Sunday night, a separate victory for Maia Sandu, with a difference of almost 10 percent from Igor Dodon.

Good voter mobilization

These presidential elections were marked, despite the pandemic, by a fairly good mobilization of the electorate to vote, being higher than in the first round: 48.45 percent of voters turned out to vote, compared to 43 percent in tour I.

The majority of voters who went to the polls on Sunday were women (54.33 percent).

In addition, the young electorate, up to 55 years old, was more numerous than the old one.
