A 36-year-old woman, in the last trimester of pregnancy, infected with SARS-CoV-2, died on Friday, in the isolate of the Craiova County Emergency Hospital.
The woman had been transferred from the Băileşti Hospital to the “Philanthropy” Hospital in Craiova, and from here to SJU Craiova.
According to the direction of SJU Craiova, the patient, who presented comorbidities, was treated in the Emergency Reception Unit, in the isolator, the intensive care places being occupied, and her condition worsened on Friday morning when, despite the resuscitation maneuvers, he died.
It was confirmed that she was positive for SARS-CoV-2 after her death, according to a statement issued by hospital management.
“This is a 36-year-old patient with a full-term pregnancy, 38 weeks old. She had hypertension due to pregnancy, being treated with antihypertensive drugs. It came to us around 00.23. He also had grade III obesity. He arrived with 75% oxygen saturation, conscious, hemodynamically stable and respiratory, he was immediately taken to the isolator, raising the suspicion of infection by SARS-CoV-2, he was also consulted during the night, examined for COVID. “His condition remained stationary until 9:00 am, when he suddenly deteriorated and he went into cardiopulmonary arrest. The resuscitation maneuvers began quickly and continued for 90 minutes, without success.” explained the medical director of SJU Craiova, Cristiana Geormăneanu, according to Agerpres.
SJU Craiova’s medical director also stated that an internal investigation was launched at the hospital.
