Danish Health Minister Magnus Heunicke said that approximately half of the 783 human cases reported in northern Denmark were related to strain of virus from mink farms.
And the country’s prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, said she now feared the new mutant virus posed a “risk to the effectiveness” of a future vaccine. He said last week: The mutant virus in mink could pose the risk that future vaccines will not work as they should.
In seven municipalities in the north, sports and cultural activities have been suspended, public transport has been halted and regional borders have been closed. A mini-block with closed restaurants, schools and other facilities was ordered.
