The health crisis has disastrous effects on the demographic evolution in Romania, the latest statistics show an increase in the number of deaths between April and September 2020 compared to the similar period of the previous year. A worrying phenomenon is the increase in the number of deaths of children under one year of age. The comparison with the previous month is affected by the fact that the statistical records of demographic phenomena record a gap from one month to another, due to the fact that there are demographic phenomena that occurred in the last 4-5 days of the current month. Likewise, the phenomenon of mortality registers a seasonal evolution, being more accentuated in the winter months and registering the lowest values in July, August and September, affirms the INS.

Naturally, on the other hand, the lowest number of deaths was recorded in the age groups of 5 to 19 years (64 deaths), 20 to 29 years (104 deaths) and 0-4 years (131 deaths).
