Last minute announcement made by Antonel Tanase, Secretary General of the Orban Government. He comments, on Facebook, on the unpopular decisions made by the government in recent days and announces that there are no more positions in ATI in Romania.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is increasingly difficult to speak with courtesy of the measures taken by the Government against the spread of the new coronavrirus, without clashing with the “informed” opinions of “virologists”, “immunologists” and “political analysts” who always know better what can be done.

I tell you honestly that all these seemingly unpopular measures are taken out of respect for the lives of doctors and people, because we, the NLP Government, are primarily interested in this: life.

We have a medical system, let’s say soft, poor. The last three PSD ministers, all three criminally convicted, have left Health on the ground.

All ATI beds are taken, the doctors are tired, the medical staff is exhausted. We don’t want to end up in desperate situations, which is why the Orban government chooses to save lives at the expense of cheap populism. The alternative, say the “politicians”, was to let people get sick and survive. But is this something we can have on our conscience? No. Therefore, no matter how unpleasant the new measures may be, they must be respected because every Romanian has the right to life and health.
