A rare image was captured in the Bucegi Mountains by a nature park ranger. Its shadow was projected on a cloud and mist within a colorful halo. Specialists say it is a rare phenomenon consisting of clouds, fog, sun and raindrops, Mediafax notes.
Romsilva representatives announced on Facebook that the images were captured by Valentin Bălan, one of the rangers of the Bucegi Natural Park Administration. The specialists explained that this is a very rare phenomenon called the Glory effect.

Also called Mountain Spectrum or Brocken Spectrum, it means that under favorable conditions, the observer’s shadow is cast over the fog. Small drops of water reflect the sunlight and form a halo of colors around the shadow.
“Rare conditions refer to the refraction and scattering of light when the sun, located behind the observer, casts its shadow on a cloud or fog below their position, and the cloud is made up of water droplets of a diameter located in a well-defined interval, ”explained the Romsilva representatives.
